Supported Living in Whitton
A homely house in a quiet residential part of Twickenham, with spacious rooms and a garden, available on a permanent or respite basis.
Where it is
Whitton sits in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, between Twickenham and Hounslow. It is a settled, low-rise, residential area: 1930s houses, a high street with everyday shops rather than chains, and green space close by. It is the sort of place where someone can walk to buy their own milk, which sounds trivial and is central to independent living.
The house is in a quiet street with spacious rooms and a garden to relax in, close to local amenities and within easy reach of parks and hospitals.
What supported living means here
This is not a care home. Residents have their own room and their own tenancy-style arrangement, they make their own decisions about how they live, how they spend their time and how they manage their money, and support is built around what they want to achieve rather than around a timetable.
Our support covers everyday practicalities and the longer-term work of building confidence: cooking and shopping, budgeting and benefits, health appointments, education and employment, friendships and community connections. We also provide 24/7 nurse-led residential care where that level of support is needed. The full picture is on our supported living page.
Respite as a trial. Rooms are available on a respite as well as a permanent basis. For a lot of families a short stay is the sensible first step: it gives everyone a genuine sense of whether the house and the people are right before anything is decided permanently, and it gives a family carer a proper break.
Getting out and about
Whitton has good rail links towards Twickenham, Richmond and Waterloo, and buses across to Hounslow and Kingston. Richmond Park and Bushy Park are both reachable, and Twickenham town centre is close for shopping, swimming and day centres. Being able to get out easily is one of the reasons we chose residential streets like this one rather than somewhere more isolated.
Questions families ask
Is this a care home?
No. Supported living means the person has their own home and their own control over their life, with support brought in around them. It is a different legal and practical arrangement from residential care.
Can we visit before making a decision?
Yes, and you should. Call us and we will arrange a visit so you can see the room, the garden and the house, and meet the people who work there.
Do you take respite placements?
Yes, on both a permanent and a respite basis. See our respite care page for how short stays work.
Is there availability right now?
Availability changes. Call 0203 375 4047 and we will tell you what is actually free rather than take a general enquiry.
