Live-in Care in Alperton, Wembley HA0
Live-in care for Alperton households, in the new blocks by the canal and the older houses off Ealing Road, planned around lifts, parking rules and the routines that matter at home.
Yes, JNP Sidona provides live-in care in Alperton. A carer lives in the home, in a bedroom of their own, and helps with personal care, cooking, medication and getting out, so the long journey from our Lewisham office never affects the daily care. We start with a free home assessment, look at the building as well as the person's needs, and agree a written care plan before a carer is introduced.
New flat or older house: what changes for a live-in carer
For live-in care, the address tells us most of what we need to ask before we visit.
- Apartment blocks near the station and the canal. Lifts and level floors make wheelchairs, hoists and hospital beds straightforward. The question is the second bedroom: it has to be a real bedroom kept for the carer, and some flats do not have one.
- Interwar semis and terraces off Ealing Road. A spare room is rarely the problem. The stairs and an upstairs bathroom are, so we talk about a stairlift or a downstairs bedroom at the assessment.
A studio or one-bedroom flat has nowhere for a carer to sleep, so live-in care is off the table there; see home care in Alperton for what visits can and cannot cover from Lewisham.
Can a live-in carer park at a car-free development?
Often not on the street. Some new blocks are approved as car-free developments, and Brent's resident permit rules say that people living in a car-free development cannot buy a resident permit or visitor permits. If your relative's block is one of them, a relief carer who drives may have nowhere legal to leave the car. Ask the managing agent whether a visitor or allocated bay is available; otherwise plan changeovers by Tube.
Alperton station on Ealing Road is on the Piccadilly line, which runs through central London, so an incoming carer can come most of the way on one line. The station has stairs, so a carer travelling with heavy bags should allow for them. In the older streets, check whether your road is in a controlled parking zone; if it is, the resident buys visitor sessions for a carer who drives.
Lifts, equipment and a fire plan
Living on an upper floor with a lift is good for care until the lift breaks or there is a fire. Ask the managing agent how long lift repairs usually take, and keep the carer's number with the concierge if there is one.
In the taller canal-side blocks, the building's responsible person now has to offer residents who could not get out unaided their own evacuation plan, under regulations in force since April 2026. If your relative cannot manage the stairs, ask the managing agent for one before the carer starts; the carer works to it, and it goes into the care plan.
The carer's break: the hill, the canal and the library
A live-in carer is owed a proper break every day. One Tree Hill, near Bridgewater Road, has a wildlife area and views from the top towards Harrow on the Hill and central London. The Grand Union Canal towpath runs through Alperton for a flat walk by the water, and Ealing Road Library is at Coronet Parade. With the person, the canal or a short trip along Ealing Road, to the grocers or the Shree Sanatan Hindu Mandir, works better than the climb up One Tree Hill.
Discharge to Alperton
Most Alperton patients come home from Northwick Park, the main A&E for this part of Brent, while Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal handles planned care and urgent care. A flat with a lift can take a hospital bed and hoist on one level, which makes it a good place to come home to with a carer living in. Phone us while the person is still on the ward; our hospital discharge page sets out how it works.
Funding and the next step
Council help in Alperton comes through Brent Adult Social Care (020 8937 4300): a needs assessment, then a means test, with the option of a direct payment. NHS Continuing Healthcare may pay where needs are mainly health needs. The detail is on our live-in care in Brent page, and live-in care across London explains the service. Couples can share one live-in carer, and we quote in writing after the free assessment.

Alperton live-in care: questions we hear
Questions families ask us about Alperton. If yours is not here, ask us directly.
Ask a questionOur flat is in a car-free block. How does the carer arrive with their luggage?
By Tube, in most cases. The Piccadilly line stops at Alperton, and carers expect to travel by public transport. If the building has a visitor bay, the managing agent can tell you how to book it.
Dad is on the twelfth floor. Who decides what happens in a fire?
The building's responsible person, usually through the managing agent. Ask for a person-centred fire risk assessment and an evacuation plan for him, and share it with us so the carer follows it.
Mum's semi has a third bedroom but the bathroom is upstairs. Is that a barrier?
Not on its own. A stairlift, rails or a downstairs commode often solve it, and the council's occupational therapist can assess. We go through it at the assessment.
Can a carer keep the kitchen strictly vegetarian?
Yes. Tell us exactly what is and is not allowed, including eggs, onion and garlic, and we write it into the care plan for every carer who covers.
