Live-in Care in Feltham
A live-in carer for someone in TW13 or TW14, from the flats by the station to the semis of North and Lower Feltham, with changeovers planned around the railway and the parking rules.
Yes, we provide live-in care throughout Feltham. A carer lives in the home with a bedroom of their own and gives personal care, meals, medication support and company, with relief cover booked ahead for their days off. We start with a free assessment at the address and a written care plan, and the Lewisham office being far away has no effect on the care once the carer has moved in.
Why Feltham station makes changeovers simpler
Feltham is one of the easier parts of Hounslow for a carer to reach. The station has direct South Western Railway trains from Waterloo, Reading and Windsor, so an incoming carer can usually make the journey with one change or none. National Rail lists it as step-free to all platforms, with lifts, and the 2021 upgrade added a further step-free entrance to platform 1 next to the bus stops, which helps on a day when someone is bringing two weeks of luggage. Check before travelling, because station lifts do sometimes go out of service.
From there, most of Feltham is a short bus ride or walk. We plan each handover so that the new carer is in the house before the outgoing carer leaves, and the two of them go through the care plan together.
Parking for changeover day
Much of Feltham has free street parking, but there are catches worth knowing.
- Check your own street. Controlled zones cover some Feltham streets and not others, and hours differ by zone. The council's CPZ map shows whether your road is in one.
- New-build flats. The council notes that some newer homes have a planning condition that stops occupiers getting parking permits. If your relative lives in one of the blocks near the station or The Centre, ask the building whether there is visitor parking.
- Visitor sessions. In a CPZ, the resident can buy visitor permits, sold as books of one-hour sessions, to cover the hours when both carers are there.
Is there room for a carer in a Feltham home?
In an interwar semi, usually: the third bedroom, or the second if a couple share, becomes the carer's, and the carer keeps it even if the person they look after moves downstairs. In the newer blocks by the station and The Centre, check two things before anything else: that the second bedroom takes a proper single bed with the door shut, and that the building lets you add the carer to the fob or entry system. In a low-rise council flat without a lift, the stairs to the front door decide how often the person can get out with the carer. A one-bedroom flat cannot take a live-in carer, and we will tell you that at the assessment.
Live-in care alongside Southville
Live-in care can be built around the clubs already in Feltham. Age UK Hounslow's Vintage Club at Southville Community Centre runs Monday to Wednesday, with activities and a hot lunch, but gives no personal care. A live-in carer can get your relative washed, dressed and ready, take them there, and then use some of the hours they are at the club for part of their own break, if that is agreed in the care plan. On Tuesdays, the free Dementia Station at Southville is open to people with dementia and the people supporting them, and the carer can go along too.
Feltham couples. Where one partner goes to Southville and the other stays at home, a live-in carer can support both: getting one ready for the club and keeping the other company through the day. The care plan sets out each person's needs separately.
Where can a live-in carer take a break in Feltham?
Feltham Green, which holds a Green Flag Award, is right on the High Street, and Feltham Community Hub and Library is inside The Centre. For a longer walk, the improved riverside path at Donkey Wood in the Crane Valley runs for over a kilometre from Staines Road, with boardwalk, new benches and an entrance gate opened with a RADAR key. That makes it a possible walk for your relative too, with the carer, if they use a wheelchair.
After a stay in West Middlesex
Most Feltham residents are discharged from West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth. Live-in care works well after a discharge because one carer is in the house from the first night, can deal with new medication and equipment, and can tell the GP or the district nurses if your relative is not recovering as expected. Call us while they are still on the ward.
Paying for it
We quote in writing after the free assessment. Hounslow Council may contribute after a needs assessment and a financial assessment, and NHS Continuing Healthcare covers the full cost where needs are mainly health needs. Our live-in care in Hounslow page explains both, live-in care in London describes the service, and home care in Feltham covers visiting care.

Feltham live-in care: questions
Questions families ask us about Feltham. If yours is not here, ask us directly.
Ask a questionThe council has put our road into a parking zone. Can the outgoing carer leave their car outside?
Only during the zone's hours with a valid permit or visitor session, so buy visitor sessions to cover the handover. The free carer parking permit is meant for regular visiting carers, not a carer who lives in. A carer arriving by train needs no parking at all.
Can the carer have their break while Dad is at the Vintage Club?
Some of it, yes, if that is agreed in the care plan. The carer still needs to be reachable for the club and back in time to collect him.
Dad's flat in a new block has no visitor parking. Is that a problem?
Not for the care itself, only for changeover day. Ask the managing agent whether the block's visitor bays can be booked, or plan for the incoming carer to come by train from Waterloo or Reading.
Mum's Victorian house has very steep stairs. What happens when she cannot climb them?
Ask Hounslow Council for an occupational therapy assessment. Often the answer is a bedroom downstairs and a commode or downstairs shower. The live-in carer keeps their room upstairs.
My husband goes to the Dementia Station on Tuesdays. Can the live-in carer go with him?
Yes. The Dementia Station is for people with dementia and those supporting them, so the carer can attend alongside him and get to know the people he sees there.
