Home Care in Feltham, TW13 and TW14
Personal care, medication support, sit-in care and live-in care for older and disabled people in Feltham town centre, North Feltham and Lower Feltham, planned after a free home assessment.
Yes, we provide home care in Feltham. Live-in care is available across TW13 and TW14, and visiting care depends on whether we have a carer near enough for the calls you need, which we confirm before the assessment. Feltham also has more local day support than most of the borough, so home care here often fits around it.
Support already on Feltham's doorstep
Before anyone decides how much home care is needed, it is worth knowing what is nearby, because a good week for an older person in Feltham might mix two or three of these.
- Age UK Hounslow is based at Southville Community Centre, Southville Road (TW14 8AP, 020 8560 6969). Its Vintage Club runs Monday to Wednesday with activities and a hot lunch, for people who manage their own personal care, including those with early dementia.
- The Dementia Station, also at Southville, is free every Tuesday for people with dementia and the people who care for them.
- The Alzheimer's Society holds a dementia cafe at Bristol Court on United Drive, TW14.
- Sandbanks Day Care Centre is run by the council in Feltham. Places are arranged through a social care assessment, so ask the council about eligibility.
Home care fills the gaps around these: help getting washed, dressed and out of the door on a club morning, medication at the right times, and someone there on the days in between.
Who pays for home care in Feltham?
There are three routes, and they can be combined. Hounslow Council may fund some or all of it after a needs assessment and a financial assessment, which you start through the First Contact Team on 020 8583 3100 or the council's request support page; the council's funding can be paid to you as a direct payment and used with an agency like ours. NHS Continuing Healthcare pays where needs are mainly health needs. Otherwise care is paid privately. We do not publish prices; we give a written figure after the free assessment. Our Hounslow home care page covers the council's charging rules and our paying for care guide explains Continuing Healthcare.
North Feltham, Lower Feltham and the town centre
Feltham was a market-gardening town into the 20th century, and the housing tells you when each part was built.
Around Hanworth Road there are tall Victorian and Edwardian terraces and semis, with steep staircases and narrow halls that make hoists and wheelchairs awkward. North Feltham and Lower Feltham are mostly interwar and post-war semis and short terraces, often with a spare room. Near the station and The Centre, the High Street was largely rebuilt, and several of the brutalist social housing blocks by the railway were demolished in the 2000s and replaced by newer apartment blocks with lifts.
In a flat, the lift and the door entry system matter to a carer as much as the care plan, and we ask about both at the assessment. In an older terrace, the question is usually whether the bathroom can stay upstairs.
Somewhere to go. Feltham Green and the old pond are by the High Street, the Assembly Hall stands in Feltham Park, and Bedfont Lakes Country Park is close by. A companionship visit can be a slow walk to the Green and a trip round Asda at The Centre, which is often the outing people miss most.
Getting to Feltham from Lewisham
Feltham station is on South Western Railway's line from Waterloo to Reading, Windsor and Weybridge, so from our Lewisham office it is one change at Waterloo. Even so, the door-to-door journey is about 75 to 90 minutes, too long to staff a pattern of short daily calls from south-east London. Visiting care works where a carer lives locally. Hatton Cross on the Piccadilly line is about a mile and a half north of the town centre, and Feltham is well served by buses, including routes 90, 117, 235, 285, 490, H25 and H26.
Longer stays and breaks
Live-in care works anywhere in Feltham where there is a spare bedroom for the carer, and suits couples who want to stay together at home. For family carers, a carer's assessment can lead to the council's Short Breaks service, and we can arrange a live-in carer for a planned break as respite care. Our Whitton and Kingston supported living homes are both reachable by road from Feltham.

Feltham FAQs
Questions families ask us about Feltham. If yours is not here, ask us directly.
Ask a questionMum goes to the Vintage Club at Southville. Can a carer get her ready on club days?
Yes, if we have a carer available for that time. The club does not provide personal care, so a morning visit for washing, dressing and breakfast can fit around it. We plan the visits around her club days at the assessment.
Dad's flat is in one of the newer blocks by the station. What should we sort out before care starts?
A way in for carers, such as a key safe or spare fob, and a plan for the days the lift is out of action. If a live-in carer might be needed later, check there is a second bedroom.
How do we get Dad a place at Sandbanks?
Sandbanks is council-run and places come through a social care assessment, so start with the council's First Contact Team on 020 8583 3100. Care at home from us can run alongside a day centre place.
Do you cover Lower Feltham towards Sunbury and the Bedfont side of TW14?
Yes. We cover all of Feltham in TW13 and TW14. For live-in care the exact street makes no difference; for visits, tell us your postcode so we can check availability.
Is there an Alzheimer's Society group in Feltham?
The Alzheimer's Society holds a dementia cafe at Bristol Court on United Drive. Check current dates with the Society's Hounslow dementia support service before you go.
