Home Care in Wembley
Live-in care, respite and, where we can staff it, visiting care across HA0 and HA9: Wembley Central, Wembley Park, Chalkhill, Preston and North Wembley.
Yes, we provide home care in Wembley. Live-in care is the most dependable option here, because a carer moves in and the journey from our Lewisham office stops mattering. Visiting care is possible in some cases, but Wembley is roughly an hour or more from SE13, so it depends on whether we have a carer free for your times. We confirm that after a free home assessment.
Stadium days and your care visits
No other part of London has to plan care around a 90,000-seat stadium. On event days at Wembley Stadium, roads around the stadium close, crowds pack Wembley Park station on the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines, and Brent runs a separate event day parking zone with its own event day permits, including a visitor event day permit. Check which one applies before anyone drives in.
For a family it means three practical things:
- Check the fixture list. Brent publishes information on upcoming stadium events and offers email alerts about event days. We plan visit times and carer travel around them.
- Sort a visitor event day permit early if anyone, including a family member, drives in to help.
- Use the quieter lines. Wembley Central (Bakerloo, the Overground's Lioness line and national rail) and buses along the High Road, such as the 18, 83, 92, 182 and 297, are often easier than Wembley Park when there is a match or concert.
Three kinds of Wembley home
The new towers around Wembley Park. The redevelopment between the stadium, the arena and Brent Civic Centre has added thousands of flats. Lifts, level thresholds and wide corridors make wheelchairs and hoists easier. Second bedrooms are often small, though, and a live-in carer needs a room of their own with a proper bed, so we ask to see it.
Interwar semis and terraces around Wembley Central, Preston Road and North Wembley. These usually have a box room upstairs that works for a live-in carer, and a front room that can become a downstairs bedroom when stairs get too much.
Chalkhill, east of Wembley Park. Chalkhill's 1960s high-rise blocks came down around the turn of the millennium and were replaced with low-rise housing, so many homes here are small flats and houses with no lift and little spare space. Ask Brent's occupational therapy service about rails, a level-access shower or a stair-free layout before a crisis.
The council is on your doorstep. Brent Council's main offices are at Brent Civic Centre, Engineers Way, Wembley Park. Adult Social Care can be reached on 020 8937 4300 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm), and the quickest start is often the council's online self-assessment.
Can Brent Council help pay for home care in Wembley?
It can, if the person's needs meet the national eligibility criteria. The care needs assessment is free and can be done by phone, online or at home. If care is agreed, a financial assessment decides how much the person pays towards it. The council's share can be taken as a direct payment, and the free Brent Direct Payment Service helps with the account and with paying an agency such as ours. People whose needs are mainly health needs may qualify for NHS Continuing Healthcare instead. We do not publish prices; we give a written quote after our assessment. Our Brent home care page covers the borough process in more detail, and our guide to paying for care explains the means test.
Coming home from Northwick Park
Most Wembley patients are admitted to and discharged from Northwick Park Hospital on Watford Road (HA1 3UJ), beside Northwick Park station. If a relative there will need help at home, ring us as soon as the ward starts talking about a discharge date. It gives us time to assess, write the care plan and line up a live-in carer or visits. See hospital discharge support.
Live-in care and short breaks in HA0 and HA9
Live-in care suits Wembley well: one carer, living in, covering personal care, meals, medication prompts and company, and able to look after a couple. Respite care can be a live-in carer for a week or two while the family carer has a break. If you are that carer, ask Brent for a carer's assessment through Brent Carers Centre; it is the route to council-arranged respite.

Wembley questions
Questions families ask us about Wembley. If yours is not here, ask us directly.
Ask a questionWill a carer still come on a Wembley Stadium event day?
A live-in carer is already in the home, so event days make no difference. For visits, we look at the events calendar when planning the rota and allow for road closures and crowded stations. Tell us if you are inside the event day zone so we can talk about permits.
Mum has a two-bedroom flat in Wembley Park, but the second room is tiny. Can she have live-in care?
Possibly. The carer needs a private room with a bed, somewhere to keep their things and a door that closes. We look at the room during the assessment and tell you honestly if it will work.
Do you cover Preston Road and North Wembley?
Yes, along with Tokyngton, Chalkhill and the streets around Barham Park. Some addresses near Preston Road and Northwick Park fall in Harrow, which then becomes the council to contact for any funding.
Can the carer cook the food my father is used to?
Tell us at the assessment what he eats, any religious or dietary rules, and which language he is most comfortable in. We write it into the care plan and take it into account when choosing a carer, and we will be straight with you about what we can match.
Do you have an office in Wembley?
No. Our only office is on Lewisham High Street. We cover Wembley from there, and Jackie, our registered manager, oversees every care plan.
