Home Care in Neasden, NW10 and NW2
Care at home on both sides of the North Circular: Neasden Lane, Dudden Hill Lane, the St Raphael's Estate and the streets running up to the Welsh Harp.
Yes, we provide home care in Neasden. Every package starts with a free assessment in the person's home and a written care plan, and then we arrange either a live-in carer or regular visits. Live-in care can be set up anywhere in Neasden; visiting care depends on whether we have carers free for the times you need, because our office is in Lewisham, so please ask.
A neighbourhood cut in two by a main road
The A406 North Circular runs straight through the middle of Neasden, and it shapes daily life more than anything else here. Getting from one side to the other on foot means underpasses and footbridges, which is fine at 40 and harder at 85 with a walking frame. When we plan care for someone in Neasden, we ask early on which side of the road the GP, the pharmacy and the shops they actually use are on.
The area sits in the NW10 and NW2 postcodes and is mostly interwar terraces and semis, with some low-rise council housing. The St Raphael's Estate lies to the west towards the River Brent. North of the railway, the streets run up to Brent Reservoir, the Welsh Harp, while Gladstone Park and the Dudding Hill railway line mark the edge with Dollis Hill.
For care at home, the interwar houses are generally kind. Most have a usable ground floor, a straight staircase that will often take a stairlift, and a third bedroom that a live-in carer can use.
Faith and food go in the care plan. The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir on Pramukh Swami Road, opened in 1995, is the landmark everyone knows. If your mother keeps a strict vegetarian kitchen, observes fasts or wants to keep going to the mandir, write it into her care plan at the start. It affects how meals are cooked, which carer is matched to her and how visits are timed around worship.
Getting a carer to Neasden
Neasden station, on Neasden Lane, is on the Jubilee line in zone 3, with Dollis Hill one stop along. From our Lewisham office a carer takes the train to London Bridge or Canary Wharf and then the Jubilee line west, which is roughly an hour door to door. Route 297 stops at the station and route 245 stops at the Neasden shopping parade. A carer who drives has to cross the North Circular, where traffic can add a lot of time at the start and end of the day.
If your street is in a controlled parking zone, a driving carer will need a visitor session, so check your road on Brent's CPZ map.
Does Brent Council pay for home care in Neasden?
It can. Neasden is in Brent, so the first step is a care needs assessment from Brent Adult Social Care. You can request one through the council's website or by calling 020 8937 4300, and the assessment itself is free. If the council agrees there are eligible needs, a financial assessment works out what the person contributes. You can take the council's share as a direct payment and use it to pay an agency such as ours. NHS Continuing Healthcare may fund care where needs are mainly health-related. We quote in writing after our own assessment and give no prices before then. Our Brent home care page covers the council route in more detail.
Coming home from hospital
Northwick Park Hospital, on Watford Road (HA1 3UJ), is the main A&E for most of Brent, and Neasden patients are often discharged from there. Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal has an urgent care centre and planned operations. Ring us while your relative is still on the ward. Our hospital discharge support page explains how it works.
Live-in care
Because a live-in carer moves in, distance from Lewisham doesn't matter, and nobody has to fight North Circular traffic twice a day to reach you. A Neasden semi with a third bedroom can also house a carer for a couple, with one partner needing full personal care and the other only a hand with meals or the stairs. The carer needs their own bedroom and proper daily breaks, and we plan cover for those breaks with you.
A break for the family carer
Respite can be a weekly sit-in or a live-in carer covering a fortnight away. If you want Brent to help fund it, start with a carer's assessment, which Brent Carers Centre carries out. For dementia, Ashford Place on Ashford Road in nearby Cricklewood runs dementia projects and activities for older Brent residents.

Neasden questions
Questions families ask us about Neasden. If yours is not here, ask us directly.
Ask a questionCan a carer take my father to the mandir?
Yes, if it is safe for him and agreed in the care plan. An escorted trip to worship counts as companionship care. We will think about the walk, the route across the North Circular and whether a taxi makes more sense.
Is Neasden NW10 or NW2?
Both. The southern and western parts, including the area around the temple and St Raphael's, are NW10, and the streets towards Dollis Hill and Gladstone Park are NW2. Either way the council is Brent.
Can you do a 7am visit in Neasden?
Possibly, but early slots are the hardest for us to staff this far from Lewisham. Tell us the times you need and we will say plainly which ones we can cover. If early mornings are essential every day, live-in care may suit better.
Mum lives near the Welsh Harp and still likes to walk. Can that be part of the plan?
Yes. Neasden Recreation Ground, on the southern shore of the reservoir, can be reached from Aboyne Road. A slow walk there with a carer is a good use of a companionship visit if she is steady enough.
