Home Care in Hampton, Middlesex TW12
Live-in care and respite for Hampton, from the old village by St Mary's Church to Station Road and the Nurserylands, with visiting care only where we have a carer close by.
Yes, we arrange home care in Hampton, mainly as live-in care, because a carer who lives in the home is not affected by how far Hampton is from our office. Visiting care is possible only where we have a carer living nearby, and we will tell you plainly whether we do. Before any care starts, Jackie, our registered manager, assesses needs at home free of charge and writes up the care plan.
How far are you from Hampton, really?
A long way. Our office is on Lewisham High Street, and Hampton sits at the far south-western edge of London, on the Thames by the Surrey border. By public transport it is roughly 75 to 90 minutes. We would sooner say that now than promise a morning call we can't keep.
What distance doesn't affect is live-in care. The carer moves in, has their own room and a daily break, and stays for an agreed spell before a planned changeover. In Hampton that is the most reliable form of care we can offer, and it suits the houses here.
Three parts of one postcode
Hampton grew in layers, and the housing differs from one to the next.
The old village clusters around St Mary's Church and Thames Street, by the river, with Victorian cottages and older riverside houses. Cottages can mean narrow stairs and small rooms, which affects whether a hoist or hospital bed will fit.
The streets around Station Road were built up on former fields in the late 19th century and between the wars, largely following the old lanes and field boundaries. These interwar semis and terraces usually have a straight staircase that takes a stairlift and a small third bedroom that works for a live-in carer.
The Nurserylands in north Hampton was built from 1980 on former nursery land. Newer houses there tend to have easier layouts, though rooms can be compact.
Parking is mostly unrestricted away from the river, which helps visiting carers and district nurses alike.
Age UK Richmond is based here. The charity's main office is at the White House Community Centre, 45 The Avenue (appointments only), and its advice helpline on 020 8878 3625 runs weekdays from 10am to 2pm. It can help with benefits, a handyperson and gardening, the kind of practical help that sits alongside personal care.
Hospital, GP and getting about
Hampton residents usually go to Kingston Hospital on Galsworthy Road, and some then spend time on a rehab ward at Teddington Memorial Hospital before coming home. Hampton Medical Centre is at Lansdowne, 49A Priory Road (TW12 2PB).
Hampton station, by the main shopping parades on Station Road, is on the Shepperton branch to Waterloo. Hampton Court station is across the river in Surrey. Buses 111, 216, R68 and R70 serve Hampton, and the 411 stops at Hampton Court. The R68 goes through Teddington, which is handy for the Memorial Hospital.

Respite for Hampton carers
A live-in carer can cover for a week while you go away, and the council's carer's assessment can lead to funded breaks. Our supported living homes in Whitton and Kingston also take short stays. More on respite care.

Hampton FAQs
Questions families ask us about Hampton. If yours is not here, ask us directly.
Ask a questionMum's cottage near St Mary's Church has a very narrow staircase. Can she have live-in care?
Possibly. The carer needs a bedroom, and we need to know personal care can be done safely. If the stairs rule out the upstairs bathroom, there are workarounds, and we will look at the house before saying yes or no.
Why can't you promise daily visits in Hampton?
Because our office is in Lewisham, well over an hour away. Daily visits work only if one of our carers lives nearby. If not, live-in care is the dependable option.
Dad likes his walks in Bushy Park. Can a carer go with him?
Yes. Bushy Park borders Hampton to the east, and a walk with a carer can be part of a companionship visit or a live-in carer's day.
Is Hampton Court in your area too?
The palace side, by Hampton Court Road, is in Richmond upon Thames and we cover it. East Molesey, across the bridge, is in Surrey, so call us to talk it through.
Does Age UK Richmond's office in Hampton provide personal care?
No. It offers advice, benefits help and practical services. Washing, dressing and medication support come from a registered care agency such as us.
