Home Care in Bedfont, TW14
Care at home in East Bedfont and Hatton: the streets around Bedfont Green and St Mary's church, the houses either side of the Staines Road, and up Hatton Road towards Hatton Cross.
Yes, we arrange home care in Bedfont. The arrangement we can always offer in TW14 is live-in care, where a carer moves into the home; visiting care is possible only where we have a carer who can reach Bedfont reliably, because our office is in Lewisham, around an hour and a half away. Everything starts with a free home assessment and a written care plan.
Bedfont Green, the Staines Road and Hatton
Bedfont is two places that happen to share a postcode. The old village sits around Bedfont Green, a conservation area where St Mary the Virgin, the oldest surviving church in the borough, has stood since about 1150. Its two churchyard yews are clipped into peacocks, with the dates 1704 and 1990 trained into them.
Around that core is a mid-20th-century suburb straddling the Staines Road (A315), with Hatton to the north. Heathrow, about two miles away, became the area's largest employer after it opened in 1946, and drove much of the house-building that followed.
What the houses here mean for care
Most homes in the Bedfont ward are semis, followed by flats and then terraces. Much of it was built as low-rise council housing, so few blocks are high enough to depend on a lift. A semi usually has a second bedroom for a live-in carer and room for a downstairs shower if the upstairs bathroom becomes too much. In the low-rise flats the question is the stairs, and whether someone can still manage them on a bad day.
The other local factor is noise. Parts of Bedfont sit close to the Heathrow approaches, and for someone living with dementia aircraft noise can add to restlessness, so we ask about it at the assessment.
Somewhere to walk. Bedfont Lakes Country Park, a nature reserve of lakes and meadow on the south-western edge, has car parks on Bedfont Road and Clockhouse Lane. A slow circuit by the water is a good use of companionship visits here.
Getting to Bedfont, and how visiting carers would get there
Bedfont has no station of its own. Feltham, on South Western Railway's Waterloo to Reading line, is the nearest, and Hatton Cross on the Piccadilly line sits at the top of Hatton Road. The 203 runs through to Hounslow and Staines, the H25 runs via Bedfont Green to Feltham and Hatton Cross, and the H26 links Bedfont Lakes with Feltham and Hatton Cross.
From south-east London that means Waterloo, Feltham, then a bus, so we only offer regular visits when we have a carer living within easy reach, and we tell you before the assessment whether we do. If your road is in a controlled parking zone, Hounslow issues a free carer parking permit to residents who receive regular visits.
Local GPs and the hospital
GP practices in the area include Hatton Medical Practice at 186 Hatton Road (TW14 9PY). The GP is the route to district nursing for someone housebound.
Bedfont residents are mostly treated at West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth, run by Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Ring us while discharge is being planned, not on the day; see our hospital discharge support page.
How do I get Hounslow Council to pay for care in Bedfont?
Ask for a care needs assessment. Every enquiry goes to the council's Adult Social Care First Contact Team, either online through the council's request support page or by phone on 020 8583 3100 (Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm, Friday until 4.45pm). A financial assessment then decides what you contribute, and the council's share can be taken as a direct payment. Paying privately, you get our written quote after the assessment. The full route, including NHS Continuing Healthcare, is on our home care in Hounslow page.
Live-in care in Bedfont
Because many Bedfont semis have a spare bedroom, live-in care is often the simplest answer here, and distance from Lewisham stops mattering once the carer has moved in. One carer can support a couple, with breaks written into the plan. See live-in care in Hounslow.
When the family carer needs a break
Hounslow's own Carers Service can arrange a carer's assessment, which opens the door to the council's Short Breaks service, delivered by Harlington Care. Close by in Feltham, Age UK Hounslow at Southville Community Centre (020 8560 6969) runs a free Dementia Station every Tuesday. For a week or two away, we can provide a short live-in stay; see respite care in Hounslow.

Bedfont: what families ask us
Questions families ask us about Bedfont. If yours is not here, ask us directly.
Ask a questionDad worked at Heathrow for forty years and the planes have never bothered him. Why do you ask about noise?
Dementia can change how a familiar sound feels. If he becomes unsettled in the evenings, we would look at his room and routine first.
Mum's flat off the Staines Road is on the second floor with no lift. Can she stay there?
Possibly. We look at how she manages the stairs on a poor day. Rails and a council occupational therapy assessment can help; if the stairs are unsafe, we will say so.
Can a carer take her to the Tuesday Dementia Station in Feltham?
Yes, where the visit or live-in plan allows. Southville Community Centre is a short drive or bus ride from Bedfont, and a carer can go with her and bring her home.
We live by Hatton Cross. Does that make visiting care easier for you?
A little, thanks to the Piccadilly line, but it is still far from Lewisham. Call with the postcode and we will tell you honestly.
