Home Care in Seven Sisters, N15

Visiting and live-in care around the Seven Sisters junction, West Green Road, Page Green and the streets towards St Ann's and South Tottenham.

Yes, we can arrange home care in Seven Sisters, both visiting care and live-in care. Because Seven Sisters is on the Victoria line, it is one of the more practical parts of Haringey for our carers to reach from Lewisham, though regular visits still depend on having a carer free at the right times. We start with a free assessment at home and a written care plan.

On the Victoria line, which helps

Most of north London is a long way from our office in SE13. Seven Sisters is less so: a carer can come up by train to London Victoria or London Bridge and take the Victoria line straight through, usually in about 45 to 55 minutes. The station is also on the Overground Weaver line, and South Tottenham, on the Suffragette line, is a short walk east. For you, that means visiting care is a realistic conversation here, not just live-in care, especially for morning and evening calls on weekdays.

Parking is the harder part for anyone who drives. The council's CPZ hours list shows the Seven Sisters and St Ann's zones running 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday, the Seven Sisters South zone 8am to 6.30pm on weekdays, and South Tottenham only 10am to noon.

Flats up stairs, and the people who have stayed

Seven Sisters is named after a ring of elm trees once planted on Page Green, and the green is still there by the junction of Seven Sisters Road and Tottenham High Road. Around it the housing is dense: Victorian terraces split into two or three flats, council estates, and some newer blocks. Plenty of older residents have lived in the same flat for decades, and many of those flats are up a flight or two with no lift.

That is the practical centre of care here. Someone who can no longer manage the stairs safely can become stuck indoors for weeks. Good home care in an upper flat covers the obvious things (washing and dressing, meals, medication) and also the less obvious ones: bringing in the shopping, collecting prescriptions, and helping with the stairs on the days your relative feels up to going out along West Green Road.

St Ann's Hospital is in N15. The Haringey Memory Service is based in the Victoria Unit at St Ann's Hospital on St Ann's Road (020 8702 6300). It assesses people over 65 for memory problems and has an Admiral Nurse and a Dementia Navigator; referral is through the GP or a hospital. St Ann's is a mental health site with no A&E.

Coming home from North Middlesex

For physical illness and falls, Seven Sisters residents usually go to North Middlesex University Hospital in Edmonton, now part of the Royal Free London group. If your relative is there and a discharge date is being discussed, tell the ward that care at home is being arranged and give us the likely date so we can line up the first visits. Our hospital discharge support page explains how that works.

How much does home care cost in Seven Sisters?

We don't publish prices, because the cost depends on how many visits are needed, when, and how much help each one involves. We give you a written quote after the free assessment. If you want the council to help pay, ask Haringey Adult Social Care for a needs assessment on 020 8489 1400 (option 1, then your area) or through the council's adult social care assessments page. If your relative is eligible, a means test works out their contribution, and the council's support can be paid as a direct payment to use with us. NHS Continuing Healthcare may pay in full where needs are mainly health needs. More on the borough is on our Haringey home care page.

Live-in care and breaks for family carers

Live-in care needs a spare bedroom, which rules out many one-bedroom flats in N15 but not the larger terraced flats and houses. For a family carer who needs time off, we can cover a week or two as respite care, and Carers First Haringey (0300 303 1555) can talk you through a carer's assessment.

Seven Sisters FAQs

Common questions from N15

Questions families ask us about Seven Sisters. If yours is not here, ask us directly.

Ask a question
Is visiting care more likely here than elsewhere in Haringey?

Generally, yes. The Victoria line makes Seven Sisters one of the easier parts of the borough for us to reach from Lewisham. It still depends on carer availability at the times you need, so call and we will tell you straight.

My aunt has been referred to the memory service at St Ann's. Can you help before the diagnosis?

Yes. You don't need a diagnosis to have care at home. We can support her with daily routines, meals and medication prompts now, and adjust the care plan once the memory service has seen her.

He lives on the second floor with no lift. Can a carer help him get out?

If it is safe, yes, and we will write it into the care plan. If the stairs have become unsafe, we will say so and suggest asking the council for an occupational therapy assessment.

Is my street in Haringey or Hackney?

Seven Sisters sits close to the Hackney border near Stamford Hill. The council that collects your council tax is the one to ask for an assessment. We cover both boroughs either way.
